
Karen Nanji, MD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesia, Harvard Medical School and anesthesiologist, Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Nanji’s research focuses on patient safety and using technology to prevent medication errors. She has published on patient safety, medication use, and physician overrides of CDS alerts. Her current study examines the effects of a CDS application on the rate of perioperative medication errors and preventable adverse medication events. She chairs the Perioperative Medication Safety Task Force of the World Federation of Societies of Anesthesiologists and is on the steering committee for the Anesthesia Quality Institute’s national Anesthesia Incident Reporting System. She led a government-initiated panel to investigate adverse events that occurred during cataract surgery.
