Scaling, Measurement, and Dissemination of CDS Workgroup: Approaches to Measuring Patient-Centered CDS Workflow and Lifeflow Impact
To be effective, patient-centered clinical decision support (PC CDS) interventions must fit smoothly into clinical workflows and patients' daily activities (i.e., “lifeflows”). For example, CDS that does not fit comfortably into clinical workflows may contribute to low user acceptance and uptake of the decision support (e.g., evidence-based recommendation), leading to unintended consequences and suboptimal decisions and care.
Measurement and Outcomes Workgroup: Patient-Centered Clinical Decision Support Planning and Reporting Tool
To be used in conjunction with the Measurement and Outcomes Workgroup: Patient-Centered Clinical Decision Support Planning and Reporting Tool User Guide, this tool has four separate sections—1) planning and needs assessment, 2) design and development, 3) implementation and adoption, and 4) evaluation, maintenance, and sustainability— that are further organized by areas and tasks.
Implementation, Adoption, and Scaling Workgroup: Key Factors and Considerations for Assessing the Value of Patient-Centered Clinical Decision Support
Understanding the economic and clinical impact of PC CDS is an aspect of the implementation planning and needs assessment process to assess PC CDS value and can inform investment decisions. However, heterogeneity in the economic and clinical impacts assessed in evaluations of CDS can limit generalizability and the use of study findings to assess PC CDS value and inform investment decisions.
CDS Standards and Regulatory Frameworks Workgroup: An Initial Taxonomy of Override Reasons for Patient-Centered Clinical Decision Support (PC CDS) Recommendations
Recipients of patient-centered clinical decision support (PC CDS) alerts and recommendations—including patients, clinicians, or caregivers—may choose not to follow the recommendations or guidance for various reasons.

For Patients
Some of the most important decisions we make in life affect our health. The Clinical Decision Support Innovation Collaborative (CDSiC) works to advance evidence-based tools that align with the needs, preferences, and values of patients, caregivers, and families. This helps ensure better health outcomes.
Learn MoreFor Clinicians
Patient-centered CDS is used by patients and clinicians nationwide to achieve better outcomes by considering patient-specific factors. The Clinical Decision Support Innovation Collaborative (CDSiC) serves as an information hub for clinicians, supporting shared decision-making and person-centered care.
Learn MoreFor Developers
Patient-centered clinical decision support (PC CDS) offers a chance to demonstrate the power of health information technology. Clinicians and technicians collaborate to make informed healthcare decisions. The Clinical Decision Support Innovation Collaborative (CDSiC) promotes the development of effective, evidence-based, and patient-centered CDS tools.
Learn MoreFor Researchers
Patient-centered clinical decision support (PC CDS) is an exciting, emerging field of study. New findings are published daily, offering many opportunities to learn more about how to develop, implement, and use PC CDS effectively to improve it.
Learn MoreInnovation Center
Innovation Center The Innovation Center is the research hub for the Clinical Decision Support Innovation Collaborative (CDSiC) and is comprised of two Cores: 1) Measurement and Value of Clinical Decision Support (CDS) and 2) Conducting and Coordinating CDS Projects. Through these two Cores, the Innovation Center: facilitates real-world patient-centered clinical decision support (PC CDS) measurement and testing projects; improves CDS usability by identifying best practices for design and implementation; and advances the translation of patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR) into clinical practice using CDS to improve patient and clinician decision making.
Stakeholder Community & Outreach Center
Stakeholder Community and Outreach Center The Stakeholder Community and Outreach Center (Stakeholder Center) is a forum for a diverse range of clinical decision support (CDS) stakeholders to come together to help shape the current and future landscape of CDS. Through its Workgroups, the Stakeholder Center provides thought leadership for the Clinical Decision Support Innovation Collaborative (CDSiC) activities, develops products that will help advance CDS, and offers input on CDSiC Innovation Center projects.
