Dr. Kensaku Kawamoto, MD, PhD, MHS, has vast experience in biomedical informatics as the Associate CMIO at the University of Utah and the Vice Chair of Clinical Informatics in the university’s Department of Biomedical Informatics. Kawamoto is a CDS standards expert, including FHIR and CDS Hooks. He leads the ReImagine EHR initiative, a multi-stakeholder effort to enable standards-based, interoperable applications and software services. He also co-directs the University of Utah’s Digital Health Initiative. Dr. Kawamoto is a member of the U.S. Health IT Advisory Committee, leads the University of Utah CDS Committee, and is a past Board Member of HL7.
