J. Marc Overhage, MD, PhD, is the Chief Health Informatics Officer for Elevance Health, and was formerly the Director of Medical Informatics and a Research Scientist at Regenstrief Institute, Inc.; and Regenstrief Professor of Medicine with the Indiana University School of Medicine. He has a long history of computing experience, including developing one of the earliest commercial object-oriented database systems and real-time data acquisition and control systems. He has devoted more than 30 years to developing, implementing, and studying clinical information systems in a variety of settings, with emphasis on CDS and HIE.
