This report assesses the design, development, deployment, and future use of a PC CDS application (app) that supports hypertension medication adherence.
Few studies have explored the deployment and use of patient-centered clinical decision support (PC CDS) interventions in real-world practice settings. The AHRQ Clinical Decision Support Innovation Collaborative Innovation Center Core 2 designed and developed a PC CDS prototype, known as Quartz, that leverages healthcare standards, text messaging, and chatbot technology to support patients with taking their hypertension medications.
About the Report
This report describes findings from an assessment that tested the feasibility of integrating the app with an electronic health record (EHR) and the usability and patient-centeredness of the app. This is the first step toward future deployment in a real-world primary care setting.
How To Use This Report
The report is intended for researchers, informaticians, PC CDS developers, hospital administrators, clinicians, and policymakers seeking to advance the design, development, and integration of similar technologies in health care settings.
