Quartz App for Hypertension Medication Management: Feasibility, Usability, and Acceptability Assessment

This report assesses the deployment, use, and performance of a PC CDS application (app) that supports hypertension medication management.

Few studies have explored the use of patient-centered clinical decision support (PC CDS) interventions in real-world practice settings. The AHRQ CDSiC Innovation Center Core 2 designed and developed a PC CDS prototype, known as Quartz, that leverages healthcare standards, text messaging, and chatbot technology to support patients with managing their blood pressure levels and hypertension medications.

About the Report

This report describes findings from an assessment that tested the feasibility of deploying the app within an electronic health record (EHR), the usability and acceptability of the app among patients and clinicians, and the app’s performance in a real-world primary care setting.
